Join ADSW for an artful evening at the Phillips Collection as we visit their special exhibit, Margaret Bourke-White, The Photography of Design, 1927-1936.

This traveling exhibition examines for the first time the works produced in the first decade of this preeminent photographer's career. Her striking, stylized black and white images of industrial subjects and beautiful machines capture the Deco era unlike any other photographer. Her work ranged from the steel industry of the Midwest to the Chrysler Building to the factories of the Soviet Union and was celebrated in magazines such as Fortune. The exhibition features over 150 vintage photographs by Bourke-White and will only be at the Phillips Collection through May 11, 2003 - so don't miss this opportunity.

Our Evening

Our evening begins at 6:30 pm with an exclusive docent-led tour of the exhibition, followed by a gallery talk at 7 pm entitled "Over Cocktails: Margaret Bourke-White's Sophisticated Mix of Glamour, Photography, and Ambition." Guests will then have a chance to socialize while listening to Howard Feinstein's Jazz Piano. A cash bar will be available; the ticket price includes two drink tickets, the equivalent of one glass of wine. The museum remains open until 8:30 pm. We will gather at the Music Room at 6:15 pm.

The Phillips Collection is located at 1600 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009 near the Dupont Circle Metro stop on the Red line (Q Street exit). Paid parking is available, please check The Phillips Collection website for more information.
