Do you share an interest in vintage fashion but feel unsure how to pull it all together for a fabulous, period-appropriate look? You may be surprised at how easy it can be to emulate the look of the art deco era, whether for special occasions or every day wear. Attend this ADSW presentation and put together a vintage ensemble for the May 21 vintage fashion show!

Enjoy presentations by Chrissy Hall Reis, ADSW fashion show chair, fashion historian Joyce H. Fairchild, former ADSC "Miss Art Deco" Robin Cawelti, and vintage hair& make up expert Christina Crerar.

  • Joyce Fairchild will present a brief slideshow on the history of fashion in the first half of the 20th Century, exploring the evolution of dress as it related to social movements and to art.
  • Chrissy Hall Reis and Robin Cawelti will give a lesson on how to assemble vintage ensembles from the 1920s-1950.
  • Chris Crerar will demonstrate how to achieve period hair and make up styles.

The lecture will be held in Gallery 4 of the Sumner School. The school is located four blocks from the Farragut West Metro station (17th and I Streets) on the Blue and Orange Metro lines. Metered street parking and several garages are nearby.
