Saturday, January 21, 2006 Woman's Club of Chevy Chase Advance tickets: $20; At the door: $25
Last year's ball was a sell-out success. Our second annual event promises to be just as grand. To get things rolling, Tom and Debra, the "Deans of DC Swing Dance", will teach an introductory swing lesson from 8:30 to 9:00 PM. Tom and Debra teach over 4,000 people a year and have won numerous state, national and international dance championships. Tom and Debra's award-winning dance team, the Eight Week Wonders, will perform during the first band break. You won't want to miss the exciting Dance Jam during the second set. Blue Sky 7—an augmented version of the swing dancer's favorite, Blue Sky 5—will play from 9 PM to midnight. Whether you love to dance, you miss the days when "swing was king," or you just appreciate live jazz, you will love this band. Playing songs made popular by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, and Nat King Cole, along with tunes by other swing era artists, the band also performs original compositions inspired by the Big Band era. The Black and White Ball will be held at the 1930s era clubhouse of the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase near the intersection of East-West Highway and Connecticut Avenue. Doors open at 8 PM. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. Black and white formal or vintage attire is suggested. Order TicketsAdvance Tickets: $20 (order by January 20) Sorry, advance ticket sales have ended. Tickets are available at the door.
