Rear terraces of the Field School

You are cordially invited to tour the campus of The Field School in northwest Washington, D.C. on Sunday, June 18.

The centerpiece of the campus is the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Center. The original Cafritz family home was designed by Alvin L. Aubinoe and Harry L. Edwards, and the interiors were done by Eugene Schoen. Built ca. 1939 in the Art Deco style, the house maintains many of the original details, including murals, light fixtures, a curving stairway of aluminum and plexiglas, marble floor inlaid with brass designs, five fireplaces, etc. The public rooms of the house have been restored as close to the original as possible. The new buildings of the campus are evocative of the design of the house and complement it without imitating it.

The tour will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Cafritz House and will be followed by a 4:00 p.m. reception on the terrace.

The Field School is located at 2301 Foxhall Road in northwest Washington, DC, near Georgetown University, the Mt. Vernon campus of George Washington University, and American University. Reservoir Road is to the south; Nebraska Avenue/Loughboro Rd. is to the north.
