Patrick Bayliss *
I have been a member of The Art Deco Society of Washington (ADSW) since 2005 and was asked by members of the Board to apply for Board status in early 2006 where I have served since July 2006 as an At Large Board member. My emphasis this past year has been on membership, and social events.

I volunteered for the Lord and Taylor Benefit Bash which is a fabulous annual fund-raising event for non-profit organizations in the spring time. This was also a great opportunity for ADSW to receive basically free-funds from Lord and Taylor while offering members and friends substantial saving during this one-day event.

My latest efforts have been in association with The Carlyle Club and building a relationship between ADSW and this great Art-Deco themed nightclub opening mid Oct. 2007 in Alexandria, VA. You will find more regarding The Carlyle Club and our Silver Anniversary Celebration on the Center-fold pages of the current 2007 Trans-Lux. I worked with the owners of the Carlyle Club to secure an Art Deco Society of Washington 25th Anniversary Celebration Evening with Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra and a 25% discount to ADSW members. This event should be a great way to kick-off the 25th Year of The Art Deco Society of Washington and allow members to experience a first-rate evening at a very new, very unique and very Art Deco venue.

I am a native of Alexandria, VA and enjoy Lindy Hop dancing, cycling and raising money for organizations such as Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis and Leukemia/Lymphoma over the past few years. I work for a local defense contractor as a Senior Systems Engineer as well as serving as an officer in the US Naval Reserves.

I look forward to your support to continue on the Board where my emphasis is to bring more events and partnerships to the ADSW thus increasing membership and providing existing members more educational and social opportunities.

Karyn Jarboe *
I have been a member of the Art Deco Society since 2000 and have served on the Board since 2004; formerly as Deputy Publicity Chair and currently as Programs Co-Chair

I have helped the members through three areas of activity:

  1. Provided members with reduced admission charges and increased social opportunities through events co-sponsored by ADSW and other organizations. These organizations include the Red Cross of Alexandria, Gottaswing.Com, the Jr. Woman's Club of Chevy Chase, and Flying Feet Limited.
  2. Found alternative sources to raise money through avenues such as the Lord and Taylor Benefit Bash, a grant from Wal-Mart, and selling a large number of ads for the ADSW Fashion Show.
  3. Raised funds while fostering member involvement through a variety of in-home events, i.e., the 'Show and Tell", the "Vintage Tea", and house tours.

Should you choose to return me to the Board, I will continue to develop and expand these activities.

My hobbies include: Lindy Hop dancing, watching movies from the 40s and 50s, collecting vintage clothing patterns, (when I had time, I used to sew them) vintage shopping road trips, while loving my dog, Sophie.

Dana Ott *
I have been a member of the Art Deco Society of Washington for many years and have served on the Board since 2005.1 am a great fan of all things Deco, though my knowledge is not as great as so many of our members who are experts in the world of Deco! My primary interest in serving on the Board is to utilize my skills in the area of organizational development to strengthen the Society and improve its ability to be responsive to membership. I am proud of our achievements thus far - we have brought our financial records up to speed and are doing more budget based planning for events. To achieve greater transparency and accountability we will also be posting our tax returns online. To improve our service to our members and the larger community, we are undertaking a complete redesign of the website to make it more updated, user-friendly, and useful for our members and the public. If re-elected, I will continue to work to strengthen the capacity of the Art Deco Society of Washington with a focus on expanding membership and diversifying programs. Thank you for your consideration.
