Art Deco Bus Tour

See and learn about over 100 structures in the Washington area, including National Airport's Historic Terminal A, 1100 New York Avenue (preserving the Greyhound Bus Terminal), the Kennedy-Warren apartment building, and the AFI Silver Theatre. As part of the tour package, you will receive a building list and suggestions for further reading and exploring.

This year, as part of The Big Read - D.C., we will include buildings of the Jazz Age, the period of The Great Gatsby, in our itinerary.

The 11th annual tour will be led by Linda Lyons, architectural historian, ADSW Education Chair, and author of Metro Deco: A Guide to Metro Accessible Art Deco Landmarks of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

This event is part of The Big Read- D.C., presented by the Humanities Council of Washington, DC and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest. In 2008, Washington, DC is reading The Great Gatsby.

If the tour fills before we receive your order, we will place you on the waiting list. We will not charge your credit card or cash your check unless we have space on the bus for you.
