Sunday, January 27, 2008 National Capital Trolley Museum Streetcar Rides
Join ADSW on a tour of the National Capital Trolley Museum to commemorates the 46th anniversary of the end of street car service in the nation's capital. Our visit will include a ride on DC Transit 1101, a PCC car that began service in 1937. PCC streetcars were developed by the Electric Railway Presidents Conference Committee in the early 1930s. The PCC car's Art Deco streamlined body covered improved mechanical and electrical systems that gave passengers faster acceleration, smoother rides, safer stops, and more comfortable seats. We will also watch a selected showing of Raleigh D'Adamo's Washington Streetcar Films showing various DC streetcars in operation around the city Cost: $4 to ride the streetcar. Please RSVP before January 20, 2008. For More InformationFor more information about this event or to RSVP, send email to Karyn Jarboe, kjarboe@adsw.org, or call 703-864-7070.
