February 1999: National Register Nomination Accepted
With
the Bethesda Theatre's National Register
nomination accepted, we move on to the campaign for community support. We
must contact community groups, state our position, and arrange to speak at
local meetings.
We are going to create a new flyer and organize volunteers to begin distributing them in Bethesda. (This is essential.)

All this leads up to the theatre owner's intention to file a Site Plan this spring - which will lead to an application to the Historic Preservation Commission for an Historic Area Work Permit (HAWP) - which is where we fight our real battle, using a combination of expert testimony and community support.
So join the fight - and the fun!
