Welcome to the ADSW Film Club. The Film Club is where lovers of classic films and Art Deco film references can share our passions. We will explore the films that mark the start of the Art Deco era, in the 20’s and 30’s, films that reflected the movement in design and subject matter. We’ll talk about the studios, designers, and actors who embodied the spirit of the Art Deco period as well as the following Mid Century Modern period. We will also explore the theaters of the era, their design and their place in society. We will provide knowledgeable posts for your review and discussion.

ADSW FILM CLUB CELEBRATES ART DECO MONTH 2026: FOOTLIGHT PARADE (1933) with PAGE MISS GLORY (1936)
Deco Film Fans if its April then its Art Deco April and there must be a Deco Film at AFI/Silver Theater.
This year ADSW and AFI/Silver will be co-presenting Footlight Parade (1933) the over-the-top Busby Berkeley extravaganza of the Prologue period in film history.
Yes, there really was such a thing as Prologues. They could be extravagant, but nothing as time and space bending as Busby Berkeley's Footlight Parade staging.
James Cagney and Joan Blondell bring snappy comedy and simmering chemistry, while Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell do the singing and dancing. Wonderful tunes and staging like Honeymoon Hotel, Shanghai Lil, and Sitting on the Backyard Fence, but nothing comes close to By a Waterfall. You just have to suspend all logic, sit back and enjoy the ride as scantily clad girls dive into the big pool, down by the footlights.
In addition to the Main Feature, Page Miss Glory (1936) will also be shown on the big screen. The first color and Merrie Melody cartoon, it has wonderful Art Deco images.
There will be a signature cocktail and an ADSW prepared display case on Footlight Parade.
